Cross, retired Conrail superintendent FORT MYERS, Fla. Ernest C. Cross, 77, 12511 Allendale Circle, Fort Myers, formerly of Hampden, died Jan. 23 at home. He was the superintendent of the New England division of Conrail and retired in 1985 after 43 with the "railroad.

He was a past general chairman of the Brother- CROSS hood of Locomotive Firemen and Enginemen. He was also a member of the United Transportation Union, general chairman of the National Diesel Committee and a member of the Labor Management Task Force. After his retirement, he became a vice-president of the Bay State Shippers in Boston. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and an aviation machinist's mate aboard the carrier USS Saratoga in Admiral William F. Halsey's Third Fleet in the Pacific from 1942 to 1945.

He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. He formerly lived in Hampden and was a Shriner and a life member of the Melha Temple Legion of Honor in Springfield. He was also member of the Mount Orthodox Lodge of Masons in West Springfield and the Scottish Rite in Springfield. He leaves his wife of 64 years, the former Lillian Darling; a daughter, Patricia Roberts, and four grandchildren, and a greatgrandchild. Services were held at Lee Memorial Park in Fort Myers.

Sr. Mary Robertine, 83, retired area pharmacist HOLYOKE Sr. Mary Robertine, Sisters of Providence, 83, died Thursday in Mercy Hospital in Springfield. In secular life, she was Beatrice Olive Herrmann. Born in Adams, she entered the religious order 63 years ago.

She was a graduate of Adams High School, Mercy Hospital School of Nursing and the Boston College School of Nursing. She was a member of the American Pharmaceutical Association, the American Society of Hospital Pharmacists of Massachusetts and the Association of Hospital Pharmacists in Worcester County. Her ministry began as a registered nurse at the Mercy Hospital in Springfield three years, and she also served in St. Vincents in Worcester for 10 years. Then, she became a registered pharmacist and worked at St.

Vincents for another 15 years. She was also a pharmacist at the for- Irene D. Bliven WINTER GARDEN, Fla. Irene D. (Dorhamer) Bliven, 89, 128 Second formerly of Otis, died Friday in Cuinnett Medical Center, Lawrenceville, where she was visiting her daughter, Joan C.

Brown. She was born in Shelburne Falls and lived in the Montague City section of Montague. She was graduated from Turners Falls High School and the former North Adams Normal School (now North Adams State College). She moved to Sandisfield and taught school there in the 1920s. She moved to Otis i in 1925 and maintained a winter residence in Winter Garden since 1953.

She was a member of the First Congregational Church in Otis and served as a deaconess there for many years. She was also a president of its Ladies Aid group. She belonged to the Otis Council on Aging, was a 4-H leader and organized the Red Cross Swimming Program in Otis. Her husband, Raymond F. Bliven, died in 1974.

In addition to her daughter Joan, she leaves three sons, Francis L. of Palm Bay, Raymond F. of Otis and Charles L. of Seymour, three daughters, Geraldine F. Spaid of Mountain Home, June B.

Crandall and Martha M. Crandall, both of Otis; two brothers, Raymond Dorhamer of Greenfield and Harold Long of Turners Falls; 36 grandchildren, 57. great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was a saleslady at the former Stieger Co. and the former Youth Center, both in Holyoke. Born in Holyoke, she was a graduate of Holyoke High School. She' had been living in Mississippi for the past 30 years, returning to Holyoke several days ago. Her husband, Raymond Woolwine, died in 1970.

She leaves a son, David of Biloxi; a brother, Daniel O'Leary of Jacksonville, four sisters, Aldine Chivas of South Hadley, Dorothy Leary of Holyoke, Theresa Mulvany of Chicopee and Mary Keeland of Atlantic Beach, Fla. The funeral will be Monday morning in St. Anne's Church in Fairview, with burial at a later date in Southern Memorial Park in Biloxi. There will be no calling hours. He was also a machinist for the former American Bosch for 15 years and the Westinghouse Corp. for 10 years. He served in the Marine Corps during World War II and was a clerk in various package stores in Northampton. He was a salesman for 20 years for McKesson Liquors, retiring nine years ago.

He was a member of the VFW, Post 8006 of Florence, and the American Legion, Post 28 of Northampton. He leaves his wife, the former Esther M. Bomba; four sons, Paul N. in' Chicopee, John A. of Chesterfield, Durham, N.C., and James M.

Smith SPRINGFIELD Dorothy A. (Sunderman) Smith, 93, Arcadia a 30-year secretary at Wesley United Methodist Church, died Wednesday in Mercy Hospital. She retired in 1978. Born in Pittsfield, she was a long-time resident of Springfield and a graduate of Springfield High School of Commerce. She was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church and was the oldest living member.

She belonged to the United Methodist Women and the Fidelis Club. She was also a member of the Isadore Forbes Chapter Order of the Eastern Star and was an accomplished violinist. Her husband, Gordon Smith, died in 1980. She leaves a son, Norval F. of Coventry, a daughter, Eleanor Jensen of Bowie, a sister, Glenna Carley of Pittsfield; nine grandchildren and seven greatgrandchildren.

84, honored veteran CHICOPEE MarieAnge J. Nadeau, 84, 98 Debra Drive, died Friday in a Holyoke nursing home. She was a retired machine operator from the Buxton Corporation, the former American Bosch and the former Westinghouse retiring in 1975. Born in Victoriaville, Province of Quebec, Canada, she moved to Easthampton as a young girl. She moved to Chicopee in 1924.

An Army and Air Force Veteran of World War II, she served in the Women's Army Air Corps. She was the recipient of the American Service Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, the Philippines Liberation Ribbon and the Women's Amy Air Corps Service Ribbon. She was a member of the American Legion Post 337 of Aldenville. She leaves many nieces and nephews, amongst them, Joan of Arc LaFlamme of Easthampton. Born in Springfield, he was a lifelong resident. He was a graduate of Springfield Technical and was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in the 78th Infantry in the European Theater with the rank of staff sergeant. He was a district manager of sales of the Revlon retiring in 1976. He formerly was a pharmaceutical salesman for U.S. Vitamin of New York.

He was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church and a member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars, Forest Park Post Number 63. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 222 of West Springfield; Archbishop Williams Assembly; Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus; and the Forest Park Shuffleboard Club.
